Team

Maduna Ngobeni

Managing Director

Maduna Ngobeni holds a Master’s degree in environmental science from the University of Pretoria.He has extensive experience in energy regulation, infrastructure project structuring, and project conceptualisation.

He served as the Project Officer who led the conceptualization and design of the Independent Power Producer (IPP) programme in South Africa since its inception.  The IPP programme included renewable, diesel peaking plants, coal and gas-to-power projects. In his role as the Project Officer representing the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy, he oversaw projects amounting to R300 billion.

Maduna also served as the Chief Operating Officer for the IPP Office in South Africa since its inception.In 2023, he left the IPP Office to establish A-Hub Energy, a company focused on project development and providing advisory services in the energy sector, particularly in infrastructure development.

Elmarie van den Berg

Director

Elmarie joined A-Hub Energy in April 2024.

She has extensive experience in project development, deal structuring and funding,emanating from her career as Principal Investment Officer at the Development Bank of Southern Africa.

Building on her experience in developing infrastructure projects, Elmarie also has broad experience in the development of projects in the energy sector from her role as Programme Manager at the Independent Power Producer (IPP) Office. She joined the IPP Office in 2016 as a Programme Manager, where she was responsible for managing the procurement processes for renewable energy, battery storage and risk mitigation programmes – from the conceptualisation of tender documents and evaluation of tenders to overseeing the financial closure of successful bids.

Zola Mkumla

Director

Zola Mkumla is a Project Developer with a BCom and a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management. He is an accomplished entrepreneur and experienced business developer with a strong track record in project development and deal execution—particularly in the renewable energy sector.

Zola has played a key role in the development of successful projects under the early bid windows of South Africa’s Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP). His deep understanding of the country’s energy landscape and the full project lifecycle stems from hands-on experience working with landowners, communities,and funding partners to bring energy projects from concept to implementation.
